SANCHOW® SC POLYETHYLENE POWDER
CHARACTERISTICS
● SANCHOW® SC is a fine polyethylene powder. The average particle size is 12~22μm.
● SANCHOW® SC is made out of selected pure commercial low density polyethylenes, through a series of chemical and physical processes. No additives are added in the manufacturing process, retains the excellent properties of raw polyethylene because without any chemical and physical modification.
● SANCHOW® SC fine powders are relatively porous. A high specific surface area makes them the appropriate carriers for chemicals that need to be well dispersed and in certain cases when slow release properties are required.
● SANCHOW® SC easily disperses in water and organic solvents.
● SANCHOW® SC has good adhesive properties especially suitable for the heat-sealing of papers and fibers.
● As a kind of good modifier, physical properties of many resins can be modified by adding SANCHOW® SC.

SANCHOW® SC fine powders are essential additives in SMC, BMC and pultrusion compounds. The advantages when use them are:APPLICATION IN FIBER REINFORCED PLASTICS
● Can control shrinkage
● Can improve dimensional stability
● Can improve surface finish and appearance
● Can increase the toughness
● Can greatly reduce water absorption
● Can improve the dispersion of pigments and fillers, give parts a uniform color and fine and smooth appearance..
● Can reduce stress cracking
● Can reduce formation of micro-cracks
● Can greatly reduce the scraps in the process
● Can greatly reduce the scarring, peeling in pultrusion process. The pultrusion process can still be smooth in case of glass content less than 50%
● Are compatible with all type of SMC, BMC and pultrusion formulations
THE ADDITION RANGES AS ADDITIVE IN FRP
● In SMC and BMC, depending on the shape of the parts to be produced and on the type of pigment as well as fillers, the addition ranges can be between 1 to 8%
● In pultrusion process, the ranges can be between 1 to 5 phr. For thin wall parts, the typical ranges can be 1~3 phr; for thick wall parts, the typical ranges can be 3~5 phr; for some parts which need very fine and smooth appearance, or parts with very thick wall, the recommended amounts can be up to 10 phr
● In pultrusion, if the viscosity of formulation is too high, 1 to 5 phr of styrene can be added to adjust it
● Reasonable amount should be determined by tests depending on the characteristics and properties of the parts
AS MODIFIER IN OTHER PLASTIC MATERIALS
SANCHOW® SC powders are used for casting grade epoxy resins, polystyrene, ABS, phenolic and PVC resins to improve their properties. When used for casting grade epoxy resins, flexibility is improved. When added in polystyrene, they improve flowability. In ABS resins, they improve processability. Likewise, in rigid PVC they improve flowability and impact resistance. They can also be used as a miscible agent for composite plastics materials.
AS HEAT-SEALING BINDER
● SANCHOW® SC powders can be used as binders in the molding of cathode rings of alkaline batteries. They have no interference with the electrochemical system. In this case, the binder is added to the formulation right at the beginning of the blending step process. A quantity of 0.5 up to 2% weight can be added. No modification of the ratio MnO2/Graphite is necessary. As well the amount of KOH remains unchanged in respect to Graphite andMnO2.
● SANCHOW® SC powders can be used in the coating and adhesive processing of papers and textile fibers. A coating of a SANCHOW® SC dispersant to papers or fibers provides a fine, thin film without pinholes. Coating craft paper, wood-free paper, and glassine paper will provide excellent water proofing resistance, chemical resistance, and heat-sealing ability. By applying SANCHOW® SC powder to fibers and felts, they can be glued and processed with no deterioration in quality.
● SANCHOW® SC powders can be used in metal coating. They, in either powder form or dispersant, can coat metal surfaces through electro-static coating, spray coating and other methods.
AS ADDITIVES TO PAINTS, PIGMENTS AND INKS
SANCHOW® SC will modify physical properties of paints, pigments and inks. If a small quantity of SANCHOW® SC is added to paint, it will diminish slipperiness and luster. Addition to ink will improve abrasion resistance. It is also used as a pigment dispersion agent.
OTHER APPLICATION
In addition to those applications mentioned above, SANCHOW® SC powders also find an extensive range of applications, including cosmetics (scrubbing agent), rubbers (anti-blocking agent, processing aid), lubricating oil (sliding property improvement) and many others.
CAUTIONS
SANCHOW® SC powders are flammable. They should be away from all kinds of fire sources when in transporting and storage. The storehouse should have good ventilation.
Don’t let too much dust of SANCHOW® SC to float in the air.
